Ebb and Flow Hydroponics

Home : Hydroponics : Ebb and Flow Systems

Ebb and Flow (a.k.a. Flood and Drain) hydroponics uses a tray to hold your plants above a reservoir (container) of nutrient solution. The tray holds the pots filled with growing medium (clay granules, Rockwool, etc.).

At regular intervals, a timer starts the pump so it fills the tray with the nutrient solution, then drains back down into the reservoir. This keeps the plant roots regularly drenched with nutrient and air - both essential to healthy plant growth.
